Relationships with Local Area Architects

Over the past thirty years, we’ve developed strong working relationships with Austin Area Architects to reach our client’s goals.  Sky West Builders believes in teamwork and open lines of communication with Architects to more accurately estimate project schedules and building costs for clients since we are the “Builder on board” during the process.   Whether you already have an Architect or need a recommendation of an Architect that matches your design sensibilities and housing style, our goal is to bring your designs into reality. We have worked with Cornerstone, Chris Allen, Gregory Thomas, Ann Patterson, Stephen Levy, Clayton and Little, Mike Brown and others.  We are excited to announce the development of our new relationship with Nick Mehl.   While we have not built any of his buildings as of yet, we look forward to building his Austin-inspired architectural designs in the future.

Design/Build Method

Under the design/build method, Sky West Builders acts as both the Designer and Contractor. Benefits of the design/model process include good project consistency, accountability and ownership as the Builder is on board from the preliminary budget through to substantial completion. With no hand-off between the planning and building phase, timelines are often shorter. Scoping out design, material and building envelope details, and structural decisions can prevent unexpected expenses later in the project.

Using the design/build method, we work with a Designer and a reduced set of plans since we are brought into the project at the beginning and better understand project needs.   We advise on material and building envelope details, structural decisions and budget ramifications.
